Georgia Mulligan – Split

Sydney singer-songwriter Georgia Mulligan has unveiled the third single from her upcoming album Unheaven– the new track, ‘Split’, is a stunning example of Georgia’s songwriting talent and of what’s to follow on the new record.
A heartfelt, clever and introspective song, ‘Split’ is “part confessional and part ridiculous poem.” Through the gently captivating groove of bass and percussion, Georgia bares her heart to her audience.

Today, Georgia has also announced a special edition vinyl release for the upcoming Unheaven LP, in collaboration with Impressed Recordings. The collaboration will see 100 limited edition coloured pressings available for purchase.
Alongside the intimate new single comes an official music video directed by Genevieve Kaiser. The video depicts a montage of charmingly domestic scenes, shot in Mulligan’s own home and featuring the singer-songwriter performing the track to camera from each setting.
On the process of writing the latest single, Georgia explained: “we just had fun pulling together an arrangement that became the basis for what we took to the band. Clay (drums) & Maia (guitar) took this skeleton and brought their feel to it. We broke it down and built it back up, over and over again, so the making of the recorded version became like the processes and cycles that sparked the song itself.”
Drawing influence from long-time musical inspirations such as PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding and Nick Cave, Georgia and her collaborators gave in to the flow of the whole process, stating: “we let the song take us where we needed to go.” The third track to come from Georgia’s forthcoming LP, Unheaven, ‘Split’ will be the final single release before the album’s arrival on Wednesday September 10th.
