Ari Lee – The One

‘The One’, a new single from ARI LEE and the third to be taken from the forthcoming EP Trophy Wife in Training. ARI LEE explores a woman’s journey, grappling with societal expectations and objectification in relationships, fuelling tracks with feminine rage and telling stories laced with social commentary. Anthems tell stories of liberation, independence, and chasing dreams.
As a brooding atmosphere brings the single to a suspenseful beginning, ARI LEE’s detailed vocal soon paints a picture with its emotive retelling of a love never found. Penned about getting lost in the idea of romance, then the pang of eventual disappointment, the single provides an indie-rock fuelled stamp with an alluring pop sensibility.
Diving into the release, ARI LEE dives in, “Growing up, I loved fairy tales. I always aspired to have that one true love, which led to losing myself in a lot of relationships. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realise that the idea of ‘The One’ may not exist. Maybe the person that I was looking to love me the whole time was myself, and that’s what this song is about”.
With the EP on the horizon, its sonics are set to blend alt-pop and pop-rock, focusing on upbeat, dramatic production. Bold, unapologetic and deeply layered, it doesn’t take away from the irresistible nature of her songwriting.
Emerging from Hong Kong and Portugal, ARI LEE is one of the names that’s drawing attention in the indie alt-pop soundscape. Fighting men in pearls and heels, and sometimes falling in love with them, the delivery is sharp and infectious. Now based in London, she has enjoyed the spotlight from Spotify Editorial’s ‘New Music Friday’ across Asia as she builds towards Trophy Wife In Training.
