The track was produced by Tone & Jonk for SLMM Productions and the vocals were produced and recorded by Keith Alexander & Nikki Nicole for Groove Team Entertainment. “Confidential” was mixed at GTE Studios and mastered at Sterling Sound by Grammy-winning engineer Chris Gehringer (Dua Lipa, Jennie, Doechii, Renee Rapp).

Though rooted in real emotion, the song’s spark came in a moment of pure serendipity.

“When I first heard the track, I had all these melodic ideas but hadn’t written a word,” Nikki recalls. “Then I glanced at the bottom of the producer’s email and saw the line: ‘This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential.’ I froze. That word stuck with me — and it ended up unlocking the story I needed to tell.”

“Confidential” signals the beginning of a new creative chapter for Nikki Nicole, one she’s been quietly shaping during her time as an undergrad at Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude.

“This record feels especially meaningful,” she says. “It’s the first glimpse of a larger project that reflects who I’m becoming — both as a woman and as an artist.”
