Devon Cole – Play House

Today, Canadian songstress and feminist anthem-maker extraordinaire Devon Cole shares her bright and breezy new single “Play House,” out now via Arista Records.
The funky, R&B-kissed song cleverly details a cheeky vision of domestic bliss — and ecstasy — and follows hot on the heels of the singer and songwriter’s still buzzing Two Shades Blonder EP.
Like all of Devon’s infectious singles, “Play House” is full of quotable, quippy lines, but the message that she delivers over a grooving bed of soulful instrumentation is unwavering: “Oh, now I’m not sayin’ / We should get married but baby / I like to play house, I like to make out / Let the dishes keep on soakin’ and lay me down.” In her airiest coo, she interweaves everyday household activities — building furniture, swishing Listerine — with winking come-ons.
As Devon puts it, “‘Play House’ keeps with my other releases because it’s funky, playful, and zesty. I think I’m stepping into a new confidence and it shows. I love how my vocals sound in this song — I’m not trying to be anything or anyone, I’m just being myself. More of that to come!”
