Foley – Fever

Foley by Frances Carter

Sydney’s kiwi pop duo Foley have just dropped ‘Fever’, the final single before the quickly approaching release of their second album, titled That’s Life Baby!, on February 28th.

That's Life Baby!

On this groovy new track, the pair explore the frustrations of a lingering and unrequited love. Born of a real-life situation experienced by a friend of theirs, the song was inspired by the feeling of not being able to break free of someone; of not being able to snap the fateful ties that connect them.

 “In a way it’s the continuation of that story where a past love is lingering on and they can’t quite find closure. It was inspired by an experience where a friend’s ex kept showing up at every party, every cafe, and felt like they were almost around every corner!”  FOLEY

 A song characterised by a bass-heavy sound and a signature Foley dance-ability (a combination which the duo describes to be “always the staple of a Foley track”), ‘Fever’s’ syrupy sweet sounds provide a stunning contrast to its heart-wrenching themes;

 “Fever is a little bit sassy but in a chill way… it has a strong bass line and a jolty groove that takes you by surprise. We wanted the listener to feel a little bit run off their feet at the start, before the chorus hits and you really feel the drum beat take you away. Overall it’s fun, and definitely encapsulates our playfulness as writers. The story is jovial and fun in the sense that we are talking pretty highly of ourselves, and being pretty brutal about the situation in a way we never would in real life. Overplaying our reactions and emotions is a form of expression we really love to dabble in- especially when we write with our friends who know us well enough to get the joke.”  FOLEY
