Any Girl By Saxon Ames

West Australia’s ANY GIRL has today released her debut album It’s A Shame The World Is Ending Cause I’m Ready To Live Now.

It's A Shame The World Is Ending Cause I'm Ready To Live Now by Reija Lee

A culmination of over two years of vision, writing, recording & work for ANY GIRL, the album is a compelling and infectious indie-pop masterpiece.

Having worked as professional musician for more than 15 years ANY GIRL (Reija Lee) has had deals with Mad Decent, Ultra Music & Sony Publishing, as well as featuring for producers such as Zed Dead, Metrik & Shockone, however ‘It’s A Shame The World Is Ending Cause I’m Ready To Live Now’ marks her first entirely independent release.

Kick starting the record with ‘Too Far Gone’, the pulsating back-beat driven track is a testament to ANY GIRL’s songwriting skills & her ability to fuse nostalgia and modernity.

‘Unbreakable’ would not be out of place in a mid-2000s pop legends discography (think Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson). ‘Talk About You’, ‘Into The Black’ & ‘Underachiever’ are also stand out highlights, showcasing ANY GIRL’s ability to write hooky yet emotive synth-pop influenced tracks.

“This album is a collection of songs written during my struggle with depression, chronic illness and undiagnosed ADHD. I spent 2 years rarely leaving the house, sitting on a pile of demos, and essentially burying my head in the sand. Then when COVID happened, I got a day job to make ends meet and at times it felt easier to live a normal 9-5 than to deal with the mental pressures of independent artistry.

When I got diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago, my mental struggles all started to make sense. With medication and a better understanding of how my brain works, I was finally able to finish the album and launch Any Girl. That’s where the album name came from. “It’s a Shame The World Is Ending Cause I’m Ready To Live Now” is my way of processing my late ADHD diagnosis, and launching a brand new project in a really uncertain music industry post-covid.”
