Mirrorball – Take A Shot

Today Los Angeles indie-pop duo, Mirrorball, releases their latest single, “Take a Shot,” from their debut EP recorded by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs).

Mirrorball is an indie-pop duo based in Los Angeles. Composed of Alexandra Johnstone and Scott Watson, the pair channels dream pop blended with overcast psych pop and is quickly making a name for themselves on the indie scene.

“Take a Shot” finds inspiration in Johnstone’s father’s photographs, particularly those taken at the Santa Anita Racetrack in the 1970s. “I would think about the people in the photos and what their lives were like. I would wonder if they ever scored that big win and how things panned out for them.” Johnstone shares.

“It’s about taking your shot at life and betting on the next horse be it good or bad. It’s a little bit of a challenge too. Have you ever felt that someone wants to say something to you, but for some reason they can’t say it, and you want them to just take their shot? Let’s just leave the cards on the table, no matter how they lay.”
