Ellis – What I Know Now

Last month, Ellis – the project of Hamilton, Ontario musician Linnea Siggelkow – announced her long-awaited sophomore LP no place that feels like (due out April 26th).

No Place That Feels Like

Today, Ellis is returning with another single from the LP, a track called “what I know now”, accompanied by a video directed by Justin Singer.

“what I know now” details Siggelkow’s experience around her debut LP, detailing the way that interactions with her label and the press alienated her from her music.

Of the track, Ellis explains,

“when i showed this song to a close friend before it was finished, she commented on how sad it was and i found that kind of funny because although i understand where she was coming from, this song doesn’t feel sad to me. it was so cathartic to write and the cheekiest i have ever allowed myself to be. ultimately, “what i know now” is a diss track to the music industry, but even though the verses are very specific to my own experience, i think the chorus serves as this very universal refrain – that hindsight can really be such a bitch.”
