Caroline Chiesa – Outwitting the Stars

New Orleans based electronic music producer, vocalist and songwriter Caroline Chiesa releases Outwitting The Stars.

Outwitting the Stars is the third album from New Orleans producer, vocalist and songwriter Caroline Chiesa, and the first released under her own name. Built in three acts modeled on Dante’s Divine Comedy (Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso), its twelve songs are stitched together with pads and bridge chords so the record plays as one continuous piece, from the seductive, villain-costume opener “I. Let My Devil Play With Yours” to the shrugging, starlit closer “There’s No Outwitting the Stars.”

The record swings between unhinged and deeply reflective, sometimes within the same song: the deadpan pettiness of “It’s Not That Deep.” and the self-medicating spiral of “I Need a Lobotomy” sit a few minutes away from the hushed, near-ambient middle of “Whispers, Whispers” and “Purgatorio XXXIII.” Partway through, Chiesa realized the version she’d written wasn’t honest. She had written a victorious ending instead of the one that actually happened, so she rewrote the last six songs from scratch.

Chiesa wrote, produced, sang and mixed the album herself at the Seraphim House, an 1860 home in New Orleans, with partial mixing and mastering by Tijan of Wise Lab Audio.

Caroline Chiesa is an electronic music producer, vocalist and songwriter based in New Orleans, known for pairing floating, ethereal vocals with driving progressive house. Her opera training began at eight; by twelve she was a featured soloist with a symphony orchestra, and she’d recorded two albums before finishing high school. She went on to study vocal performance at San Diego State, where she fell for house music and never picked a side. She made her streaming debut with Liminal Space (2024), followed by Almost Forever and its ambient companion EP (Re)imagined (2025). She also DJs regularly. Sounds like: Sofi Tukker, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Elderbrook, Ellie Goulding.
