Bassvictim – PEACE + WAR

Bassvictim announces new album PEACE + WAR due November 6th.

Alongside the announcement, Bassvictim shares a new single “White Flag,” opening with Maria Manow’s hushed vocals and breaking down into a rush of blown-out textures. “White Flag” finds Bassvictim leaning into their clubbier instincts, pushing their sound towards the dancefloor.
Expanding on their signature collision of abrasive electronics and warped pop sensibilities, PEACE + WAR finds the duo self-observant and strikingly tender in moments. Over 19 tracks, lyrics are whispered across biting distortion as they twist and turn into Ike’s bruising electronic production and Maria’s gleeful, mangled vocals. Vulnerability and volatility coincide throughout the record and the thrill is in the unexpected where subtle humor and provocation are central.
Bassvictim is currently on their headline White Flag North American tour which began on the West Coast making stops through Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Austin and Miami and is continuing on to Chicago, Philadelphia and more before concluding in New York October 31st at Knockdown Center. Bassvictim will then continue on for select European dates including Paris at Trabendo and London for a performance at Troxy on the evening of their album release, a full-circle moment for Maria, who previously worked at the venue.
Vocalist and songwriter Maria Manow and producer Ike Clateman have carved out a singular space. Defined by raw candor and a willingness to take unapologetic risks, Pitchfork tout the duo as, “always funnier and more creative than other modern electroclash revivalists” with “freakishly unstable songs” that are “intoxicating.” Following a run of early releases including Basspunk and Basspunk 2, Bassvictim released their debut album Forever, followed by their EP ?, pushing their sound into stranger and more emotionally expansive territory.
