Lydia Saint George – I’m A Little Scared

North Carolina-based singer-songwriter Lydia Saint George has released the official video for her new single, “I’m a Little Scared,” out now via Gold Ship Records.

The video premiered yesterday at LOUD WOMEN, which wrote: “Saint George wraps it all in atmospheric indie pop with a darker edge, but it’s the vulnerability in the writing that really gets under the skin.”

Blending atmospheric indie pop and alternative music with a dark, haunting edge, “I’m a Little Scared” captures the feeling of being trapped between what is real and what your mind has convinced you to believe. The song confronts social anxiety, the fear of missing out and the memories that continue to follow you no matter how hard you try to leave them behind.

“I wrote it when I was struggling with social anxiety and doubting myself as a musician, hence the line about ‘not being good at guitar,’” Lydia explains.

That insecurity also shaped the song’s arrangement. When the time came to record what would normally have been a guitar solo, Lydia chose to sing the part instead, turning her self-doubt into one of the track’s most distinctive musical moments.

“I’m a Little Scared” follows Lydia’s September single, “Lungs,” and continues a series of new releases leading toward a larger body of work. The two songs offer different sides of Lydia’s writing while sharing the same emotional honesty, intimate vocals and shadowy atmosphere.

Originally from Upstate New York, Lydia grew up in a 90-year-old house surrounded by long winters and gray skies—an environment that continues to influence the mood of her music. Now based in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, she is developing a sound that brings together indie pop, alternative music and folk-rooted storytelling.

Lydia will support Lacey Sturm at City Winery in Philadelphia on October 17 and Pittsburgh on October 18.
