Dominique Fils-Aimé – Ensorcelée

DFA

Today, JUNO-winning singer-songwriter Dominique Fils-Aimé presents a stunning reimagining of Daniel Bélanger’s “Ensorcelée.”

First released by Bélanger in the early 90s, the song holds an iconic place in Quebec’s cultural landscape as one of the definitive tracks that shaped modern Québécois pop-rock. Deeply moved by “Ensorcelée” personally, Dominique brings a singular voice and sensibility to this beloved song. Her interpretation is certain to move listeners all over again.

Of the track, Fils-Aimé says “Love is wide and plural in its expression. An exploration of an underrepresented facet we all know. A quest for a type of freedom I rarely sing about.”

“To me, this song by Daniel Bélanger is a gem that has been part of our collective landscape. From its original version to its acoustic interpretation, he has gifted us a moment that regardless of how it is sung, moves me by its poetry, I will speak of Love until the end of days, this is one more way to do so.

It seems that pain and sain,

Are just a letter away.

Universal emotion

We each live in privacy

Our Personal clouds

Shedding on us the same tears”

My World Is The Sun

The standalone single follows the release of Dominique’s acclaimed album earlier this year, My World Is The Sun, the second chapter of her sophomore trilogy, which made the Polaris Music Prize Long List and was recently nominated for ADISQ’s Jazz Album of the Year and International Reach. Dominique has continued to firmly establish herself as one of today’s leading voices in vocal jazz. She has been featured on the Polaris Music Prize Shortlist twice and a two- time winner of the JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, affirming the importance of her artistic vision at the crossroads of jazz, soul, and blues.

Over the last six months Dominique has been bringing My World is the Sun to the stage with a world tour, marking a new milestone in her career. This impressive series of 52 concerts thus far confirms her status as a key artist on the international scene, driven by deeply human and luminous music. The tour continues this October in Europe.

On stage, Dominique offers an immersive performance that invites audiences to delve into the roots of their soul, guided by a profound quest for connection. Live at the Montreal International Jazz Festival (2025), her first live album, is a testament to the strength of her stage presence and her ability to forge an intimate bond with her audience. In recent years, she has performed on prestigious stages including the Blue Note New York, Blue Note Los Angeles, and the Monterey Jazz Festival, as well as Jazz à Vienne (opening for Jamie Cullum) and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
