South London’s Lily Juniper releases her debut album Bloom Gloom via Friends of Friends, the Los Angeles label renowned for championing forward-thinking artists including Shlohmo, Daedelus, Sweatson Klank and Afternoon Bike Ride.
The announcement arrives alongside new single “Way To Love”, a soaring, sun-drenched anthem that introduces the album’s central themes of growth, self-discovery and finding light in uncertain times.
Marking a significant new chapter for the artist, Bloom Gloom presents Lily Juniper at her most confident and fully realised yet, an uplifting and deeply human debut.
Following her 2025 EP After Party on Friends of Friends, which drew support from BBC Introducing, KCRW, BBC Radio 6 Music and publications including Broken 8 Records and Analogue Trash, Lily continues to build momentum as one of the UK’s most intriguing emerging electronic artists. Bloom Gloom represents the next step in that journey. Co-written and produced alongside longtime collaborator and partner yours.truly, the album is the culmination of years of shared creative evolution. Drawing inspiration from the emotional immediacy of the early 2010s post-dubstep and indie electronic movements, it blends intricate production, organic warmth and heartfelt songwriting across thirteen tracks that explore identity, nostalgia, and connection.
The record unfolds like a series of diary entries, each song capturing a different emotional state. From the hopeful opening notes of “Feels Good” and the searching introspection of “Who Am I, You?”, through the emotional exhaustion of “Quiet Tired” and the euphoric release of “Way To Love”, Bloom Gloom constantly shifts between light and shade. Elsewhere, “One Night Blues” revisits the intensity of adolescence through the lens of classic coming-of-age cinema, while “Fold” transforms existential uncertainty into a bittersweet electronic anthem indebted to the sounds that first inspired Lily and yours.truly to make music together. Throughout, Lily’s warm vocals remain at the centre of the record, grounding its rich electronic textures in songs that feel deeply personal yet instantly relatable.
Holding a mirror up to ourselves and the world around us, Bloom Gloom finds beauty in contradiction. It’s a record about growing older, learning to live with uncertainty and choosing hope anyway. Rich with feeling and driven by an enduring sense of optimism, it captures an artist stepping into a new chapter both creatively and personally.
“I’ll be turning 30 as this record comes out, which feels like a really poignant way to close the chapter on the past 10 years” says Lily. “For me it has felt like a decade of extended childhood. In getting older and happier, I’ve also gone to deeper and darker places. Trying to grow and find a sense of inner peace in a world that feels more confusing and sad than ever. There’s light, there’s dark. There’s bloom, there’s gloom.”
To celebrate the release of Bloom Gloom, Lily Juniper will perform a special album launch show at Coldharbour Blue in South London on Thursday October 15th 2026.
