Paris-born Dayla breaks six year hiatus with defiant new single ‘TV – 90s kid’
Arriving as a euphoric dose of art-pop, TV – 90s kid pays homage to the millennials who feel let down by the unrelenting reality of ‘2026 adulthood’. Returning after a six year hiatus from music, fans will be thrilled to learn of Dayla’s new chapter. Despite already scooping significant support at The Times, Wonderland, Clash Magazine and BBC 6 Music with her early singles, Dayla has since evolved her sound and progressed her artistry. There’s been a significant shift in the sound you hear today, since her earlier, more ambient, downtempo work.
Born and raised in Paris, Dayla moved to London in the early 2010s to immerse herself fully in the city’s vibrant music scene. Her early work focused on ensemble-based performances, seeing her grace the stages of prestigious venues like the Union Chapel, the Barbican, and the Southbank Centre alongside acclaimed artists such as Imogen Heap and Elena Tonra from Daughter.
Parallel to her first release, Dayla expanded her sonic horizons and tapped into her more experimental side as one of the core members of the NYX Electronic Drone Choir. Working within the collective, she explored deep ambient sound worlds made with voices and gear, contributing to their debut album NYX as well as the collaborative album Deep England alongside Gazelle Twin. While on tour, they opened for electronic pioneer Nicolás Jaar at Rewire Festival, performed at the Centre Pompidou, and made appearances at the London Design Festival and London Fashion Week, culminating in a performance with Sigur Rós at BST Hyde Park.
Now Dayla is back with her storytelling, blurring the lines between reality and dreamscapes and she’s here to stay. Don’t let her out of your sight.
