Today, 21-year-old singer-songwriter and rising star Aubory Bugg released her highly anticipated debut album i think i had something once – out now on all platforms via Dualtone.
Alongside today’s release, Bugg drops the universal & anthemic love song “just embers now.”
Bugg sings of her first love, noticing how the experience has changed her for the better. Although the relationship may have ended in heartbreak, Aubory expresses her gratitude for learning how to love and having this person truly change her life.
Over upbeat folk-pop drums & guitars, Aubory sings, “we’re just embers now but that’s alright / can’t call our season wasted time / ‘cuz my angel, girl it changed my life.” Bugg can’t look back with negativity as she realizes all the positive changes that this relationship brought to her life.
Speaking of her debut album, Aubory says, “I have never been more excited for a release in my life. Jon, Matt, and I worked so hard to make this as honest and accessible as we possibly could and I couldn’t be prouder of it. I’ve said before that this record is a love letter to things I didn’t think I’d lose – and that’s still incredibly true. Bugg’s very first single and album title track “i think i had something once” was premiered by FLOOD, stating, “The gently strummed acoustic tune hits the sweet spot between indie folk and alt-country twang as Bugg ruminates on small moments that she suddenly realizes have become core memories.” The song was also recognized by Rolling Stone as a must-listen for the week of its release.
Bugg recently completed a run of tour dates as direct support to Courtney Marie Andrews, as well as several live shows at select festival dates this summer in the UK. Next she will join emo-folk duo hey, nothing on the European leg of their upcoming HOUND WORLD TOUR.
