Following a summer that saw her releasing soul-baring, undeniably vulnerable singles, from “junebug!” which earned widespread editorial support including Spotify’s New Music Friday, Apple’s New Music Daily, and Amazon’s Breakthrough Pop, with Billboard declaring it the perfect song that “captures the carefree chaos that kicks off summer,” to “loving you is” and “bite the bullet,” multi-platinum singer/songwriter GAYLE today releases her much-anticipated debut full-length album, Observing Chaos.
The album, which she co-wrote and co-produced, is GAYLE at her most candid, unobstructed and undeniably revealing: the 13-track LP details the Grammy-nominated artist singer’s at-times tumultuous transition from her teenage years to adulthood — and all the triumphs and tests she experienced along the way.
Observing Chaos is about my experiences from the ages of 17-21. There were so many unique experiences that I was so lucky to have. I put out “abcdefu” and my life got completely turned upside down in the best ways. And while I was dealing with extremely unique circumstances, I was also going through things EVERY teenage/young adult has gone through. When I came home from tour, I had so much unraveling and piecing together to do. When I looked at my life and picked through all the songs I wrote on and off of tour, I was writing from such an honest place. I realized that in all the best ways, my life was chaos. The album is me honoring and observing it while slowly making sense of it all. And let’s be honest… being a teenager and being in your early twenties is complete CHAOS. -GAYLE
Earlier this week, GAYLE, who has previously toured with multi-platinum artists including Taylor Swift, P!NK, Cyndi Lauper, Tate McRae, AJR and My Chemical Romance, delivered a stunning performance of “loving you is” on the TODAY show.
Observing Chaos is the culmination of GAYLE spending the better part of the past few years finding her emotional center. Following the whirlwind surrounding the massive success of her double-platinum anthem “abcdefu,” the singer took much-needed time to work on herself, her emotions, and, most importantly, learn exactly who she is as an adult — all topics she mines on her debut LP.
To that end, Observing Chaos finds GAYLE at her most open and honest — dissecting the positive and negative choices in life, falling in and out of love, trust, heartbreak, partying, and the mania that encompasses life between the ages of 17 to 21.
Having recently launched a new fan club, the g spot, GAYLE has since set out to play her forthcoming new album directly to her fans via a road trip that has already included Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, NYC and more album listening sessions and exclusive experiences.
A 22-year-old Nashville-based singer/songwriter who garnered global attention with her bold music, GAYLE is entering an exciting new era of her career. Her breakout single “abcdefu” achieved multi-platinum status, topping international charts and earning her a GRAMMY nomination for “Song of the Year.” Her EP, a study of the human experience volume one, made with producers including Noah Conrad, Ryan Linvill, and Pete Nappi, introduced her as a bold new voice in pop music, while its follow-up, volume two, delved deeper into themes of vulnerability and authenticity, with tracks like “god has a sense of humor” and”indieedgycool” highlighting her fearless songwriting approach.
In addition to her own work, GAYLE co-wrote and performed “Butterflies,” a reimagined version of Crazy Town’s “Butterfly” for the Barbie movie soundtrack album, produced by Mark Ronson. She has also written for major artists like Kelly Clarkson and Roddy Ricch, and collaborated with artists such as Lauren Spencer-Smith, Em Beihold, and blackbear.
