So Tired – The Job
Today, September 1st, Toronto band SO TIRED has shared a grinding new ripper entitled “The Job,” available now on all streaming services.
“The Job” is a spastic, angular love letter to bands like Shellac and The Jesus Lizard, drawing from songwriter Miranda Armstrong’s noise rock and metal roots. The song comes with another music video, shot by Austin Martin, a new friend Armstrong met in a dive bar while talking about films. Influenced by the office aesthetic of sci-fi shows like Severance and New York public access television in the 70s/80s, the video takes us into a world of mundane office culture with a dreamlike, surreal twist. While the song ties more directly into the album’s themes of toxic relationships and the cycle of abuse, the video’s take on office culture still taps into those same ideas of repetition, control, and feeling trapped.
“The Job” follows the release of the band’s debut offering, “Counterfeit,” from their forthcoming self-released full-length, Drop Me, available worldwide on September 21st. Written by vocalist and songwriter Miranda Armstrong during the summer of 2024, the album took shape amid a turbulent relationship as Armstrong split her time between the chaos of Toronto and the quiet tobacco fields of Norfolk County, Ontario, where her family lives. That tension between noise and stillness pulses through every track. Fuelled by patriarchal rage, Drop Me swings between cathartic aggression and danceable grooves. Drawing from Armstrong’s background across multiple genres, Drop Me blends post-punk, hardcore, grunge, doom metal, and industrial into something raw, heavy, and unpredictable. While comparisons to ‘90s acts like Garbage, Nine Inch Nails, and Ministry feel fitting, SO TIRED still carve out a sound entirely their own through jagged song structures, massive low-end, and Armstrong’s striking vocal delivery. The album was brought to life alongside guitarist Jesse Laderoute and producers Josh Korody and Alex Edkins (METZ and Weird Nightmare), who also co-wrote two tracks with Armstrong, including “Counterfeit.”
SO TIRED have confirmed an album release show in their hometown of Toronto on October 1st at The Baby G.
