Sophia James – Finish What You Started

Singer-songwriter Sophia James returns today with new single “Finish What You Started,” a candid look at the maddening experience of finding undeniable chemistry with someone who suddenly decides to disappear.
“I try my best to write from my soul, but sometimes my ego snatches the pen first and furiously scribbles out her grievances towards those who threaten her,” says Sophia. “That was the case with ‘Finish What You Started.’ It’s basically about the frustration of being led on and suddenly abandoned by someone you have Casablanca-level chemistry with. The whole song can really be boiled down to the lyrics ‘turn my head and turn away.’”
The new release continues a breakout stretch for Sophia, who released her six-track EP, The Wrong Shoe Theory, in May. She followed with new single “Ryan” earlier this summer, which proved to be a fan favorite drawing hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments online. Between the new music, a string of headline shows and a raw performance on NBC’s TODAY, Sophia has continued building one of the internet’s most passionate fan communities, which began late last year with her viral “Group 7” phenomenon.
With “Finish What You Started,” Sophia further expands a body of work rooted in clever lyrics, raw emotion and an instinct for finding humor in even the messiest corners of human relationships. The song offers another glimpse into her next project, due later this year and produced by GRAMMY®-nominated, multi-platinum producer Alex Bilowitz.
