Angela Autumn – I Don’t Think About You At All
Appalachian-born and Nashville-based musician Angela Autumn will release her second album, Believer, on 9/11 via Gar Hole Records.
The album’s early singles “Mountain Stream” and “Heavy Tobacco” has seen praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Needle Drop, Stereogum, UPROXX, Brooklyn Vegan, The Line of Best Fit, Exclaim! and more, and today Angela drops another single off of the forthcoming record. Pairing pop hooks and an eastern-inspired banjo riff is “I Don’t Think About You At All.” The song is out today with a self-directed music video, created just outside of Banff, Canada.
“Very similar to Mountain Stream, this song was me integrating some deeper traumas and writing about them. I truly feel that we see ourselves most clearly through our creations, and this song helped me heal a side of myself that needed special attention.” Angela shares of her track, “It started out as a banjo drone song with just a riff played on the lower string. I showed my ex the demo (who the song was written about) and he said yeah it’s like Chini Baba, and his response kind of led me to want to record the song.”
Nicknamed “The Rose of Appalachia,” a nod to the Allegheny roots and clawhammer banjo skills that helped her blossom into a critically-beloved solo artist, Angela Autumn is fresh off of support tours with the likes of Bonny Light Horseman and Langhorne Slim, and after being awarded SXSW Developing Artist Grulke Prize, which in past years has gone to the likes of Leon Bridges, HAIM, Anderson .Paak and Future Islands. Now she prepares to release Believer – a musical melting pot of a record, blending the mountain music of Autumn’s past with the hybridized sounds — indie, psychedelia, pop, and gothic country — of her present. Written in the great outdoors (the woods of Tennessee, a rural treehouse in Asheville, at a friend’s warehouse in Chattanooga) and made with multi-instrumentalist and producer Baerd (Isaiah Beard), Believer showcases the other flowers in her garden, though, capturing Autumn in full bloom.
Angela Autumn will be touring later this year through North American, Europe and the UK.
