Syd Taylor – Red Light

Detroit-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, model and producer Syd Taylor returns with new single “Red Light,” a stunning, guitar-driven track highlighting her vocal prowess, while exploring vulnerability around the idea of change. The release also comes with a music video directed by Aislyn Murray (Doechii, Banks, Ethel Cain) with captivating visuals, spotlighting her magnetic presence.
Of the song and video, she notes:
“I wrote this song during a time in my life when I felt like the clock was ticking. I was trying to grow while someone close to me was determined to stay the same, and I started to realize that staying meant I would have to make myself smaller too. I knew that if I didn’t make a change then, I might never find the courage to do it. So I got out.
That decision gave me the freedom to become who I needed to be, and ultimately, who I am now. The video is a reflection of that journey. The clocks and imagery throughout represent that feeling of time running out, while the different versions of myself represent the people we become, outgrow, and leave behind along the way.”
“Red Light” follows her 2025 debut album After the Fact, a 12-track debut detailing a pivotal experience exploring identity and honesty within the spiraling feeling of isolation. Describing the album as “a journey of self-discovery and self-understanding,” Taylor sought to write and self-produce a collection of songs to launch her solo career after 10 years in Stereo Jane with twin sister Emilia Paige. The result is a raw, empowering deep dive into self-discovery and introduction to Taylor’s incredible vocal abilities.
After a successful run of shows with Goldie Boutilier between February and March of last year, Taylor will embark on her headlining Fall tour kicking off on October 15 in San Francisco at Cafe Du Nord and wrapping in Chicago at Beat Kitchen on October 25. Theo Moss, Amira Jazeera and Meyru will join her as supporting acts for select dates.
