Following the early-summer release of “Welcome to L.A.” the first single from their forthcoming EP, Sphinx, Hamburg art-house pop duo IVY FLINDT today return with their brand-new single, “I Like The Weather.”
“Nothing comes for free/but the weather,” vocalist and songwriter Cate Martin swings with sweet aplomb over lush, emotive instrumentation on the sensual, harmony-drenched new track that speaks to the unnecessary battles we endure en route to eventual acceptance.
“To state the obvious: ‘I Like The Weather’ isn’t about the weather,” says Martin. “It’s about hiking a rough trail until the rain strips away the bullshit. It’s about unpredictable love, and the strength you find when you walk away from pointless fights. It weaves a sweet, romantic heart with an uneasy undercurrent.”
Excitingly, in conjunction with the release of their stirring new single, IVY FLINDT, which includes multi-instrumentalist Micha Holland, are also thrilled to officially announce the release date for their upcoming new EP: Sphinx, produced by Grammy Award-winning Danton Supple (Coldplay, Nick Cave, Amy Macdonald), is officially due for release on November 13.
Supple, who produced the entirety of Sphinx, praises IVY FLINDT’s meticulous approach to songwriting and world-building.
“You can tell they really think about what they’re doing — the whole image and the story connected around Cate’s lyrics,” Supple notes. “And it’s about creating a backdrop that supports that story.”
Blending enthralling melodies, vivid lyrics, and cinematic soundscapes, IVY FLINDT have built an international following through emotionally resonant songwriting and immersive performances. Their debut album, In Every Move, was produced by Per Sunding (The Cardigans) and mastered by Björn Engelmann.
