OSTON – Placebo effect

OSTON by Kate Liddy

Introducing, OSTON, the LA-based singer/songwriter today shares your new favorite summer indie pop gem “Placebo effect.” OSTON’s speciality is melodramatic diary-like anthems of heartbreak, obsession, grief, and mental health.

OSTON spoke on the track saying, “After being hurt and let down so many times, it becomes hard to imagine a future where that doesn’t happen again. That’s exactly the feeling that took over me when I started falling for my partner. Every sign pointed to him being a genuinely good person, but I was terrified to let myself believe that something good could actually happen to me, because every other time I’d let my guard down before, it turned out to be a false alarm.

Placebo effect is about giving in to that fall anyway. It’s about choosing to believe, even when your instincts are screaming at you to protect yourself. Because at the end of the day, even if it all falls apart, the risk of getting hurt again is worth it. It’s still better than never letting yourself feel anything at all.”

OSTON’s approach to songwriting is intentional, delivering narratives with a precision that bypasses ambiguity in favor of raw, relatable storytelling. Her lyricism is characterized by a sharp, incisive edge that is striking and at times, devastating. In her latest body of work, she navigates the complex dichotomy of her twenties—capturing both the darkness and high highs. By exploring the breakdowns and breakthroughs, OSTON aims to empower listeners of all ages, offering a sense of resilience and hope woven throughout her melodies and infectious hooks.

Maddie Zahm will feature OSTON as an opener on her tour this fall, with her run of dates kicking off in November in Denver and including stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and more.
