The Cocktail Slippers – This Town

Norwegian rock favorites The Cocktail Slippers return with their new single “This Town,” now streaming everywhere.
The track is the latest preview of the band’s forthcoming album Joyride, due out August 28.
While the recently released title track “Joyride” showcases the band’s hard-rocking, ’70s-inspired roots, “This Town” reveals a different side of The Cocktail Slippers. Built around shimmering melodies, warm harmonies, and a laid-back groove, the song captures the emotional connection people have with the places they call home.
“THIS TOWN is an ode to our residential town, Oslo, Norway. But most of all, it’s a song reflecting on the different layers in any town,” the band explains. “You have dark streets, shady people at the same time as you have kids playing, sunshine and good vibes. THIS TOWN has a more melodic and poppy sound than the hard rocking 70’s inspired songs we have released from our upcoming album. It’s a vibe, it’s a feeling. It’s all about love for the place you live.”
Though inspired by Oslo, the song’s themes are universal. “This Town” celebrates the beauty found in everyday surroundings—the familiar streets, the people, the contradictions, and the shared experiences that shape a community. It’s a song that acknowledges both the rough edges and the bright moments that coexist in every neighborhood.
Recorded at Propeller Studios in Oslo with engineer Michael Scott Hartung, “This Town” highlights the band’s versatility as songwriters while maintaining the infectious hooks and timeless sensibility that have become their trademark.
With Joyride arriving August 28, “This Town” offers another glimpse into an album that finds The Cocktail Slippers embracing both their rock-and-roll roots and their gift for irresistible melody.
