Chase Petra – Soda Pop

Chase Petra’s second single of 2026, “Soda Pop,” is an indie-pop follow up to “405,” released earlier this year.

Written amidst a busy touring schedule in 2025, the song is bandleader Hunter Allen’s attempt to reckon and cope with the way she is perceived by audiences. Allen says about the songs, “I had been rudely reminded of the fact that my femininity would always outclass my humanity in terms of how the world interacts with my body. I’ve been really lucky in my career as a musician to have worked in largely queer spaces, which have always made me feel very simply myself but every once in a blue moon I step out of that bubble and into a culture that cannot help but point with accusatory fingers at the parts of me that look and feel like a girl. It can be jarring to say the least.

“Soda Pop” is the second and final single from Chase Petra’s upcoming EP, A Terrible Ennui, out 6/26. The EP was produced by Sarah Tudzin (illuminati hotties), and features Josh Freese on the drums. The EP coincides with Chase Petra’s appearance on Summer School 2026 with Honey Revenge, South Arcade, Games We Play, and Winona Fighter. The tour ends with Warped Tour Long Beach, in Hunter Allen’s hometown.
