Kim Petras – Jeep

GRAMMY® Award-winning pop powerhouse Kim Petras has delivered yet another single; the anticipated yet sonically unpredicted fifth track, “Jeep”, from her imminent third studio album, Detour.
This track is the second release this year from BunHead Records, the independent label Kim started in 2016, following the April release of “Need for Speed”.
“Jeep” is produced by Porches, Nightfeelings, Eric Cross with additional production by Margo XS. The track was written by Kim Petras along with Nick Weiss, Aaron Maine and Eric Cross.
Kim will be performing “Jeep” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC this Thursday, May 7th.
The music video for “Jeep” was filmed on the outskirts of Paris, France, as well as Fourchainville in the French countryside by Director Leonie Miller-Aichholz. Together, yet alone, with her man (played by Porches), Kim rides in the back of a beat-up Jeep (‘truck’) while cruising around France listening to music (techno, Eminem, SlipKnot) and stopping at gas stations for Four Loko and other drinks. She’s with the man she loves, but he doesn’t get her… he doesn’t get her beauty… her creativity… her love for him. She’s misunderstood, but cannot stop loving him. Kim is visually the truest version of herself in this video – jeans and hoodie, a cute slip, a simple dress in a field, and a much desired August Barron dress – all styled impeccably by Linda Engelhardt.
Kim has described “Jeep” as starting out as a pure misunderstanding; somewhat comedic but also tied to the notion of being an outsider and immigrant, and not always feeling as though people understand you. The song represents the repeating cycle of wanting to be with someone who doesn’t understand you.
Leading up to the impending release of Detour, Kim is riding a continuous wave of momentum and fan appetite following the release of last week’s “Need for Speed” following “Polo”, “Freak It”, and “I Like Ur Look”. Kim has been collaborating with all new artists for her latest music (including Pretour), teaming up with Margo XS, Frost Children, Porches, umru and nightfeelings. With her signature fusion of club roots, sharp lyricism, and emotional honesty – Detour is shaped to be Kim’s most personal, evolved and inspired music to date.
While an exact release date for Detour has yet to be confirmed, it’s rumored to be coming this month…
