Daisy Grenade – So Much To Say
Acclaimed alt-pop duo Daisy Grenade have announced their new EP So Much To Say, arriving May 15th via DCD2/Fueled By Ramen.
The news is accompanied by new single “Girls Are So Lucky,” a tongue-in-cheek take on the realities of being a “girl in a band.”
Produced and co-written by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Pom Pom (Suki Waterhouse, Noah Kahan, flowerovlove), the track builds to a chaotic, explosive breakdown as it strips away the artifice to reveal the harsh truths of empty bank accounts, touring in a minivan, and being mistaken for “the drummer’s girlfriend” instead of the headlining act.
“‘Girls are so lucky’ is an ode to the working girls, the divas with day jobs, and the rock stars with red bull addictions,” shares Daisy Grenade. “It’s a satire about the way people view us and our weird lives, exposing the glamour for what it really is, something far grimier. It comes to you complete with a straight down the middle 2012 dubstep breakdown, because why the fuck not?!”
Filmed in singer Dani Nigro’s grandparents’ house, the “Girls Are So Lucky” official video ushers in a playful, shape-shifting energy, leaning into an indie sleaze aesthetic built from video game graphics, time-lapse sequences, and trippy, hyper-saturated visuals. Drawing inspiration from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Skins, it reimagines the Y2K-era chaos now circling back into the mainstream – mirroring the duo’s own high school memories, distorted, stylized, and impossible to fully let go of. The result is a world that’s as self-aware as it is chaotic: equal parts emotional spiral and inside joke.
With acclaimed producer Jake Sinclair (Weezer, Fall Out Boy) at the helm, the So Much To Say EP finds the duo breaking new sonic ground while remaining distinctly Daisy Grenade. The five-track collection delivers a genre pastiche that sees the band at their most raw and vulnerable, with several tracks recorded straight to tape in a New York City church. Across the project, the duo finds themselves lost in an unending loop – walking in circles inside their own lives, spiraling into stagnation, and ultimately discovering that the only people who can save them are themselves.
The So Much To Say EP follows a string of acclaimed singles and covers, most recently delivering an electrifying rendition of No Doubt’s chart-topping hit “Hella Good,” with portions of proceeds benefitting Center for Reproductive Rights, a legal advocacy organization dedicated to protecting bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.
In celebration of the EP, the band will head out on their debut headline tour, Daisy Grenade Has So Much To Say (The Tour), with support from Vienna Vienna. The US run kicks off May 19 in Pittsburgh, PA, before making sold-out stops at historic stages including The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, CA (June 4) and New York City’s Bowery Ballroom (June 19). $1 from every ticket sold will benefit the Let’s Give A Damn Foundation, an organization that empowers young creatives globally to use their platforms for advocacy.
