MUNA – Wannabeher
MUNA unveil ‘Wannabeher,’ the latest offering from their upcoming album Dancing on the Wall, an infectious new track released alongside a music video directed by Dante Capone.
The single arrives on the heels of ‘Big Stick,’ a track from the forthcoming album that the band made available for purchase on Bandcamp for 48 hours, raising over $20K for Pal Humanity.
“Wannabeher” captures the dizzying pull of desire and self-projection, the experience of admiring someone so intensely that the line between wanting to be them and wanting to be with them begins to dissolve. In the band’s words: “This song is our version of Bikini Kill’s Rebel Girl – it’s about the experience of really admiring someone and feeling confused about whether you want to be them or be with them or both. A gay canon event”
Directed by Dante Capone, the video reflects that same tension, moving between performance and introspection, set against the darker, sweat-soaked world of Dancing on the Wall, where longing, identity, and emotional uncertainty blur under pressure.
Dancing On The Wall, a record that pushes MUNA into sharper, darker emotional territory while maintaining the euphoric, dancefloor-ready energy fans have come to expect. Produced by Naomi McPherson, the album reflects the band’s instinctive, self-directed creative vision and total artistic control, balancing introspection with kinetic, crowd-moving intensity.
Across the record, MUNA explores desire, intimacy, and connection against a backdrop of a world in flux, capturing the tension of how to keep living, loving, and reaching for one another in challenging times.
Dancing On The Wall is out May 8th. To celebrate the release, MUNA will perform a series of special shows in Los Angeles, New York, and London during album release week.
