Bella Litsa – Inside A Seashell
Off the heels of her highly praised debut album and a sold-out release show at NYC’s Night Club 101, Brooklyner Bella Litsa returns today with the official video for her single “Inside A Seashell.” A gorgeous crashing melody and haunting vocals cascade over a delicate piano melody ushering you in.
“‘Inside a Seashell’ is an autobiographical kind of song,” explains Litsa. “It’s about who I am as a person in a broader context, not necessarily pinned to a specific thing. Kind of like an exhaustion I feel come on that has me thinking, wow, I still have to keep going? And I do. Give it to God. So when Sarah and I made the music video, I wanted it to feel very intimate and personal. My family from Boston makes some cameos, and of course Sarah does too. The footage of Cyprus felt really special to me as it’s a Cyprus I’ve never seen, but my dad and his parents and their parents and so on, did.”
Crafting intimate, lush, and emotionally potent songs that echo with dreamlike intensity, Litsa’s music is a search for stillness, beauty, and peace in an ever-shifting world. Taking inspiration from everything from Rachmaninoff to Lana Del Rey to Daft Punk, Drasticism combines 90s-inspired guitars, mellotron, and cinematic orchestral arrangements to conjure a grandiose world. The songs feel distinctly carved from the here and now, but are veiled in a kind of romantic transcendence: The orchestral swells and decays, delayed releases, lush stacks of harmonies, and exquisite overwhelm of sound conjures the narcotic wash of the tide, a heartbeat, a prayer—tapping into something cosmic and ancient, a sound we can all hear if only we listen hard enough.
