Ella Fence announces UK Sessions EP, featuring new single  “Short Term Parking (UK Sessions)”

Following a run of releases and a national tour supporting Sofia Isella (Sold Out), Australian alternative pop artist Ella Fence unveils the next chapter of her international project: her UK Sessions EP, created with renowned producer Dan Swift (UK).

The EP brings together a collection of songs captured in collaboration with Dan, including Welcome To The Real World (UK Sessions), Couple Kids (UK Sessions), and the newly released “Short Term Parking (UK Sessions)” – rounding out the project.

A unique aspect of the UK Sessions EP is its parallel existence alongside an upcoming Australian project, Records With Friends. Two of the singles (Couple Kids and Short Term Parking) exist in dual forms: one version recorded in Queensland with collaborators for Records With Friends, and one version reimagined in Brighton as part of the UK Sessions.

While the Australian recordings lean into a more organic, collaborative energy, the UK versions take on a more polished, brit-pop leaning, atmospheric sound.

The UK Sessions EP sees Ella reunite with Dan Swift, the Brighton (UK) producer behind her highly acclaimed 2015 EP Wanderlust. Known for his work with Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro, Swift brings a sense of scale and depth to the project, helping shape a body of work that blends alternative pop, indie rock and cinematic textures.

The EP explores themes of growth, identity, disillusionment and self-liberation, capturing a period of transition both personally and creatively. It reflects the tension between staying the course and breaking away, between obligation and instinct.

With its release, UK Sessions marks a defining chapter in Ella Fence’s journey, one that bridges continents, collaborators, and creative identities.

The UK Sessions EP, featuring “Short Term Parking (UK Sessions)”, is out March 20 on all streaming platforms… with perhaps one or two more surprises still to come.

“Short Term Parking” is one of the most personal moments on the EP. The song was written in a defining, almost cinematic moment, sitting in a car parked outside a job Ella didn’t want to walk into.

“I used to park in the short term car park every day from 9 to 5, knowing I wasn’t supposed to,” Ella shares. “It became this quiet act of rebellion, having to go out and move my car, anything to disrupt a life that was starting to feel enclosed and regimented.”

In that space, the concept for the song,  and a much bigger life decision, began to take shape.

“I remember sitting there and deciding I was going to leave. That I’d make a plan. The line ‘short term parking, long term decisions’ really became a turning point for me. It’s about that moment where you wake up and think, ‘What am I doing? This isn’t my life.’”

While the period represented a necessary chapter of stability and rebuilding, it also sparked a deeper realisation.

“I’m grateful I pushed through that season, I saved money, got back on my feet, and it allowed me to get to a place where I could make art freely again. But I hope I never sit in a car park like that again… and if I do, I hope next time I make the decision a lot quicker to just turn the car back on and drive away.”
