ODD Beholder – Internet Famous

Swiss electro wave/indie pop artist Odd Beholder (Daniela Weinmann) releases “Internet Famous” from her fourth album Honest Work via Sinnbus Records.
Following 2023’s introspective Feel Better, which explored teenage struggles and intergenerational relationships, Honest Work shifts focus to the adult lives of working people navigating systems that reduce them to anonymous data points, employees, and consumers. Across ten songs, Weinmann documents night shifts in hospitals, breast milk pumped in storage rooms, Ritalin prescriptions, workplace dress codes, and stolen moments of barefoot lake walks.
Lyrically, Honest Work embraces what Weinmann calls “petty-bourgeois surrealism”—desperate prayers woven through corporate HR language: “Doctor, I think that I’ve got a disease” (Focus Disease), “Taking a day off… don’t even remember my own name” (Remind Me), “I serenade on company time” (Lean Dreams). The album captures the dull ache of a generation whose emotional lives are filtered through online shopping carts and employment systems.
Odd Beholder’s previous work includes debut album All Reality Is Virtual (exploring digitalization and isolation), Sunny Bay (examining humanity’s relationship with nature), and collaborative EP Lost in Communication (2023) with Long Tall Jefferson. Weinmann’s music video for “Landscape Escape” won the jury prize at the 2017 Best Swiss Video Clip Awards.
The artist has performed at The Great Escape (UK), Eurosonic (NL), Reeperbahn Festival (DE), and toured China, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. Weinmann co-founded Music Declares Emergency Switzerland, advocating for climate action within the music industry, and has hosted panels examining the “broligarchy” and independent music’s place within corporate tech structures.
With her precise, laconic documentation of modern oddities and misunderstandings, Odd Beholder confronts uncomfortable truths whilst offering consolation through dark, embracing pop music.
