hemlocke springs – the beginning of the end

Today, breakout alt-pop artist hemlocke springs returns with her highly anticipated new single, “the beginning of the end.”
The track is the first new original music since her 2023 debut EP going…going…GONE!
Of the song, hemlocke explains, “I wrote this song seven years ago, when I was meeting people in college who didn’t grow up religious. I was meeting people of different sexualities for the first time and questioning the Christian rhetoric that being gay is an abhorrence. It was a very distinct switch from my upbringing, where I was banned from dating or having sleepovers. So this song is me trying to sort all my thoughts and feelings of once being restricted like, ‘Can’t I have some normalcy?’”
Once upon a time, an artist named hemlocke springs dared to create fantastical worlds by weaving hyper-personal tales into exuberant art-pop anthems. Hailing from North Carolina where she grew up in a very religious household, and now residing in the faraway land of Los Angeles, hemlocke was crowned a bedroom pop star in 2022 with her very first songs (“gimme all ur luv” and “girlfriend”). She went on to amass praise from visionary creators like Grimes, Steve Lacy, and DOECHII, becoming one of Chappell Roan’s favorite artists, and embarking on tours with fellow world-builders like Doja Cat and Ashnikko. After seeing her career take off while pursuing a master’s in health informatics, hemlocke released her ebulliently eclectic 2023 EP going…going…GONE!, featuring medieval-coded single “sever the blight,” which NME dubbed “creativity of the highest order.” In 2025, hemlocke invites us into a world born entirely of her imagination. Prepare thyself to be verily charmed for the next chapter.
Additionally, hemlocke will head out on the road supporting Conan Gray on his upcoming North America tour, starting next week (September 11), hitting arenas and amphitheaters across the country.
