Wuss – Where It Begins

The Indonesian indie-rock band Wuss is currently busy working on a full-length album, scheduled for release this year. Based in Malang, East Java, they are on their way to open a new chapter in their musical journey, Wuss released a single titled “Where It Begins.”

“We chose this song as the starting point for our full-length album. Each single will correlate, connecting with each other, to form a complete album,” Wuss explained.

Consisting of Sabiella Maris (guitar/vocals), Brilyan Pratama (guitar/vocals), Rara Harumi (bass) and Rufa Hidayat (drums), this unit wants to tell about a different life adventure every day in “Where It Begins”. Starting with the lyrics “journey is a blind box, you never know…”, humans actually have no idea about the future. Ranging from success, failure, sadness up to happiness, these future conditions are not guaranteed. Even so, Wuss conveys the message that all we can do is keep trying and welcome whatever life gives us with open arms.

Wrapped in enthusiastic mid-tempo music, “Where It Begins” became one of the initial materials made by Wuss after they formed as a band. Similar to the message contained in the song, the formation of Wuss was also a project that was created without a plan.

Through various jamming and brainstorming sessions, this four-piece band was formed. The warm reception of their debut EP, We Undercover Super Softie, was a pleasant surprise for Wuss. Despite their busy schedules, Wuss managed to compile and record 13 pieces of material ready to be included on their first full-length album.

“There were approximately 13 tracks that we were able to complete despite our respective busy schedules. The key was frequent discussions and compromises so that this project could be completed successfully,” Wuss continued.

They’re also planning a tour following the album’s release. Wuss hopes to reach more cities and countries than their previous EP tour. Furthermore, a music video project featuring both old and new material is in the works and will be released soon.
