hannah bahng – Orchid/Flame

Hannah Bahng2

Rising indie singer-songwriter hannah bahng has today released her latest single, “Orchid / Flame,” an emotionally raw offering from her upcoming sophomore project, The Misunderstood EP, due September 12 via her independent label Bahng Entertainment.

Originally written as two separate songs, “Orchid” and “Flame,” the track evolved into a haunting two-part emotional journey when hannah discovered their natural synergy on piano. The track explores the inner conflict of giving endlessly to someone unwilling to reciprocate and the bittersweet obsession that drives you back into their orbit again and again.

Hannah said of the track:

“It’s about the constant feeling of giving and giving more than what they want to give back, and continuing to give despite the love and care not being reciprocated and continuing to run towards the allure of their ‘flame.’

I knew adding strings into this piece would sound amazing, so I scored the cello arrangement myself in a four-part harmony to create the haunting counterpart to my vocals.”

Written solely by hannah and produced alongside her longtime collaborator Andrew Luce, the track exemplifies hannah’s singular approach to songwriting and arrangement by blending classical instrumentation with contemporary, emotionally charged alt-pop production.

“Orchid / Flame” follows recent singles “Sweet Satin Boy” and “what never lived,” both of which will appear on The Misunderstood EP, a deeply personal body of work that solidifies hannah’s reputation as one of Gen Z’s most introspective and visionary musical voices.

To celebrate the release of the project, hannah will embark on her largest world tour yet, The Misunderstood World Tour, with 27 North American shows and additional dates and regions to be announced soon.
