OHHara – With You

Today, the art-pop duo OHHara share a video for “With You,” an urgent and transcendent post-trance track that shares DNA with 2Hollis, SOPHIE, and Underworld.

OHHara are Denma and Laurence, two artists who met in Paris via Alejandro Jodorowsky.

“With You” is the directorial debut of Zoe Bleü Arquette, the multi-hyphenate artist, actress, musician, and designer who stars in Luc Besson’s upcoming feature film Dracula.

The pulsing hardcore ballet “With You” video features the ethereal garments of Ann Demeulemeester and dancers from the Opera de Paris. It serves as an excellent introduction to OHHara’s world, where evocations of Renaissance-era religious iconography bump up against the dynamics of futuristic deconstructed club music.

OHHara describe the process of making the “With You” video:

“‘With You’ is a prayer that’s being made and answered. It’s transcendence. The video is inspired by our x11z performance world, which revisits elements of Greek Tragic theater but instead of being trapped by destiny, the heroes transcend and shape it.

Creating the visuals was literally experiencing magic.  Zoe Bleü Arquette directed and styled. Working with Zoe was the most inspiring collaboration we have ever been part of, along with our last collab with Ron Perlman. We are all dressed in ethereal Ann Demeulemeester creations. The studio was lent to us by legendary fashion icon Paul Steinitz, one of the wildest characters in Paris alive.

Five days before the shoot, we still didn’t have dancers. Gaetan Vermeulen, who dances for the Paris and Rome Opera, heard the track in a train bathroom. He couldn’t stop dancing and manifested as our Archangel and brought his heavenly host. Gaetan’s inspiration for the choreo was taking the moments of the most intense transcendent abandon in a club and sustaining it. The energy is Duende.

As we started shooting the second to last shot, lightning started striking around the studio, we just found out that 39,0000 lightning bolts struck across Paris and France in that storm. It mirrored the strobe lights of our shoot. It felt like the Gods were with us.”

Earlier this year, OHHara released a similarly stunning video for “L,” which starred the legendary actor Ron Perlman as a choir director named Zeus.
