Olive Klug – Train of Thought

Olive Klug’s new single “Train of Thought” is out today.
Inspired by Paul Simon’s “wordy magical chaos” the song explores what it’s like to be neurodivergent, and how Klug has “recently embraced the internal chaos instead of trying so hard to control and repress it.”
Klug continues, “I broke out of my usual literal storytelling lyrical style and broke into the world of abstract metaphors. With lyrics like “and they try to button up my suit and tie in an attempt to hold me back but I’m this strange old conductor wearing pearls and a backwards baseball cap”, I wanted to highlight how my non traditional gender presentation is intrinsically linked to my neurodivergence and desire to resist societal pressures.”
“Train of Thought” is the third single off Klug’s upcoming release, Lost Dog.
Signature Sounds previously announced Klug’s signing. Label president Jim Olsen said, “When a friend sent me the rough mixes for Lost Dog, I was immediately captivated by the catchy songwriting and raw, honest lyrics. Olive’s music evokes the spirit of some of my favorite rebellious songwriters like Michelle Shocked, Alynda Segarra (of Hurray For The Riff Raff), and Adrienne Lenker, pushing the boundaries of roots music with unapologetic authenticity and attitude.”
Klug hits the road again on April 9 in Salt Lake City, UT continuing through the fall with multiple summer festivals including Telluride, Mariposa, and Pickathon.
