Arlo Parks – Beams

Today, twice Grammy-nominated, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award–winning artist Arlo Parks unveils the final taste of her forthcoming album Ambiguous Desire with focus track “Beams” – an emotionally charged exploration of pain, numbness and self-acceptance surrounding the devastating theme of suicide framed by shimmering chords and tender lyrics.
The song features on Parks’ third album, set for release this Friday on Transgressive Records.

Arlo shares about the new song, “It’s about the pain of feeling discarded, or feeling like the oldest hurt that you carry around like a stone is a burden not just to you but to everyone around you – the worst fear. It’s about numbness and fight, flight or freeze. But it’s also about trying to (slowly but surely) want better for yourself and realise that you are loveable as a whole.”
“Beams” joins previously released singles “Get Go”, “Heaven”, and “2SIDED”, which together showcase Arlo Parks’ most vulnerable, self-affirming, and euphoric work to date.
Arlo Parks will be performing a series of sold-out intimate UK record store shows to celebrate the album’s release, offering fans a rare chance to experience a live performance in an up-close setting. Arlo is also hosting a DJ party at Palais in Peckham on April 23rd with Lil Silva, Oscar Farrell and Sherelle (details in the flyer below) and will be appearing for a special support performance with David Byrne in Ireland this June.
Following the celebratory UK dates around the album release Arlo will be heading on a global headline tour with stops across North America beginning in August in Washington, DC and heading through Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York and more.
