Tigra and SPNCR – Do It Like This

Tigra and SPNCR, the electrifying duo of rap icon Lady Tigra (of L’Trimm) and producer/multi-instrumentalist Spencer Nezey (of Jupiter Rising), today share their new single “Do It Like This” which comes lifted from the forthcoming EP, Black Rice which is set for release on January 14 via [PIAS] Électronique.
New single “Do It Like This” is a boisterous shot of sunshine-funk which mixes Nezey’s buttersmooth grooves with Lady Tigra’s sharp lyricism. It follows Black Rice’s earlier single, “Guillotine” which found Lady Tigra and Bunny D teaming up to perform as L’Trimm once again.
Speaking about the new single, Lady Tigra explains: “If ‘Guillotine’ was the moment of freeing yourself from dead weight and energy, this new single is the moment you step into the party afterwards. We wanted to capture that electric breath you take when you’re feeling yourself and partying with your friends. Spencer built this beat that feels like walking out into the buzzing night air—alive, wide-open, and a little dangerous—and I wrote from that place where that playful urge enters your body like a flood.
We recorded it in L.A. and let it marinate in the same magic that shaped the rest of the Black Rice EP. It’s still very much nostalgia in the bones, freshness in the pulse—but this track leans into joy, movement, and celebration. It’s part night-ride, part punk-bass and all adrenaline.”
Lady Tigra, best known as one-half of the iconic 1980s Miami bass duo L’Trimm, helped define the voice of a generation. With hits like “Cars That Go Boom”, claimed by Jennifer Lopez to be one of her favourite songs, she became a trailblazer for women in rap and a fashion icon of the golden age of hip-hop, as well as earning her a feature on Yo Gabba Gabba!. After L’Trimm, Tigra evolved as a solo artist and cultural curator, remaining rooted in her love of rhythm, rebellion, and retro-futurism.
Spencer Nezey rose to fame as a founding member of the electro-hip-hop band Jupiter Rising, where he served as beatboxer, saxophonist, and producer. A genre-blending musician with deep roots in funk, jazz, and electronic music, his collaborations span indie to mainstream, always with a signature blend of live instrumentation and digital finesse.

Black Rice finds the duo blending 808s with analog synths, witty lyricism with lush harmonies, and a mellow West Coast attitude with intergalactic cool. The music at-large showcases the duo’s mission: to make music that’s fearless, feminine, and funky — the soundtrack to liberation, pleasure, and protest.
