Margaux Regan – Obsessed

Margaux Regan

Following the success of her debut single releases “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” and “Radio Silence,” Margaux Regan announces her debut EP After Thought, due January 23rd, 2026. Ahead of the release, she drops her latest single “Obsessed,” on November 21st, offering another insight into the collection’s emotional empowerment.

Country-soaked pop at its finest, “Obsessed” channels the storytelling spirit of Taylor Swift’s early work while establishing Margaux’s own distinctive voice. Her vocals effortlessly float above pop infused country instrumentation driven by heavy drums and acoustic guitar, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current.

With “Obsessed,” Margaux takes a playfully self-aware approach to the anxious attachment style that colours modern romance. The track transforms what society often dismisses as “crazy” behavior into an anthem of relatable, exaggerated devotion.

“This song is about owning that obsessive side of having a crush – the one many young women can relate to but are made to feel bad about,” explains Margaux. “I wanted to approach it with humor and a bit of sarcasm, like Carrie Underwood meets Sabrina Carpenter.”

Co-written with producer Ian Holmes at Soho Sonic Studios, “Obsessed” showcases Margaux’s collaborative spirit and arrives as the final offering ahead of her debut EP After Thought — a four-track coming-of-age collection that captures the quiet chaos of growing up: the overthinking, the heartbreak, the self-doubt, and the small moments of clarity in between. The rest of the EP was written entirely by Margaux herself — including one track written with a close friend — mostly composed on her bedroom floor. The collection maps the transition between nineteen and twenty-one, blending organic instrumentation with contemporary pop sensibilities.

The process wasn’t always easy — halfway through writing, Margaux developed vocal cord issues that forced her to re-evaluate her relationship with music. When she returned, she wanted to be more open, more playful, and less afraid of imperfection. After Thought lives up to its name as a collection of reflections and emotional reckonings. “The title mirrors my inner world and the way I process my experiences,” says Margaux. “These songs are the thoughts that linger after everything else has been said.”

True to her roots, Margaux draws inspiration from a rich tradition of folk music and storytelling. The French-Irish artist credits her mother’s affinity for iconic bands like U2 and The Cranberries and artists like Sinéad O’Connor with sparking her interest in making music. At just 10 years old, Margaux picked up the guitar specifically to write a song about a childhood crush for her school talent show – a fitting origin story for an artist who now channels romantic obsession into clever, catchy hooks. She later added piano to her instrumental repertoire, laying the foundation for her multi-faceted artistry.

Margaux moved to London at 18 to pursue a BA in Songwriting at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, soon after earning a four-song development deal with Soho Sonic. Thoughtfully inspired yet unmistakably unique, Margaux’s music is all original. Her aptitude for turning her innermost thoughts into catchy hooks, combined with her impressive vocal ability, demonstrates raw talent. Drawing inspiration from storytelling giants like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Zach Bryan, and Dolly Parton, her contemporary country-pop sound has earned comparisons to Kacey Musgraves and Lizzy McAlpine.
