Saintseneca – Sweet Nothing

Today, Saintseneca released the official video for “Sweet Nothing,” the second single from their forthcoming album Highwalllow & Supermoon Songs that will be released on October 31 via Lame-O Records.
The band also announced they will support Bright Eyes on tour later this month, marking a full circle moment as they reconnect with Mike Mogis who mixed the new album. The run of 7 shows kicks off on Tuesday, August 26 in Ojai, CA and will make stops in Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas and more.
About the song, frontman Zac Little explains: “On my honeymoon, years ago, I found this little riff. It seemed to lead somewhere, but the edges rolled off into nothingness – a faded out map. I’d find fragments and try to line them up to no avail. Disparate states that just almost match up – but not quite. Like how you can tell the continents used to touch. I laid it in the drawer to sleep.
The big heavy things – transcendent, effervescent, crushing, or crushing. It’s hard to find a tune buoyant enough to carry them.
Then Patti Smith’s dream cowboy paid me a visit – straight off the M Train, and blessed me with a chorus.
‘I’m sure I could write endlessly about nothing. If only I had nothing to say.’”
“Sweet Nothing” follows the release of “Infinity Leaf Clover.”

Highwalllow & Supermoon Songs marks Saintseneca’s first album in more than seven years and launches the listener onto a ten-song landscape orbited by two sonic “moons,” Viridian Moon (tracks 11-16) and Cinnamon Moon (tracks 17-21), named for the colors bandleader Zac Little experienced through synesthesia while writing.
The album was born from a period of personal struggle when Little hit a years-long stretch of burnout and found unexpected healing and a creative spark in painting. What began as a meditative artistic practice grew into a collection of paintings that became the basis for a solo exhibition in a hospital gallery and ultimately the hand-painted gatefold jacket that houses the new album.
The 21-song epic stands as Saintseneca’s most realized release to date – an album that’s more adventurous than anything he’s done before, yet grounded in a pop sensibility that makes its expansive sonic world accessible. The album feels familiar and rooted, yet carries more gravity as two moons orbit its landscape. Strings and synths intertwine with drum machines and samples, creating a sound that defies easy categorization – unamericana. “I found that I circled back to the country music that I grew up listening to and always wanted to run from, but then I just wanted to hear it. The voice of George Jones, raw and razor sharp with emotion, the alchemical perfection of Hank Williams’ songwriting, Dolly Parton’s crushing melodies. They seemed to effortlessly cut through the air, floating in the atmosphere like perfume even after the songs stopped.”
