bloodsports – Anything Can Be A Hammer

New York City rock group bloodsports are excited to announce that they have signed to Good English Records, a new indie label based out of New York, NY and Nashville, TN. To celebrate the news, they’re also announcing their debut album, Anything Can Be A Hammer, available digitally and via Cassette and Vinyl on October 17, 2025 via Good English.

The first preview of the LP is out now in the form of “Rosary,” a slow building track that explores regrets through reminiscing about the past.
“Plans that we made/seem to never happen that way,” vocalist and guitarist Sam Murphy sings ahead of the song’s crescendo, accepting the reality of a poignant situation. “Rosary” patiently wades through the emotions, working towards a huge sonic payoff.
“This song was written about a relationship that I ended, and reminiscing about the feelings months after the fact,” Sam explains. “Lyrically, it’s a very bittersweet song. It looks back positively on the time that was spent but there’s also a layer of regret about the things that never quite came to fruition. It’s strange to sing live now because the relationship that it’s referencing has since been rekindled but I can still connect to those feelings from back then.”
Since the band’s inception in 2023, bloodsports has been on the cutting edge of disjointed, hard hitting guitar music, making a name for themselves within Brooklyn’s DIY scene for their dynamic performances. Last year they shared “Canary,” a standalone single that exposed the band’s tight edged inclinations and sentimental songwriting. Their eponymous debut EP arrived in 2023 via Candle Pin Records, with string oriented slowcore track “Sky Mall” leading the release. On their imminent debut, bloodsports are more refined and empowered than ever, fearlessly tearing through nine tracks of clean cut guitars, orchestral arrangements and transformative lyricism.
Earlier this spring, bloodsports toured around the American South and East Coast, hitting close-knit DIY scenes in Chicago, Asheville, Philadelphia and more. Last month, the band toured up and down the east coast with Boston group Main Era. Known for their explosive live shows, the group has played shows with Flooding, Split Chain, Kal Marks, Aunt Katrina, All Under Heaven, Terraplana, and more. bloodsportsonline
