Jolin – Pleasure

Global pop icon and Queen of C-pop JOLIN today (June 6th) shares the sumptuous music video for her latest single “Pleasure.”
The cinematic clip was directed by Christian Breslauer (The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Ariana Grande), choreographed by Robbie Blue (Rihanna, Olivia Rodrigo), and produced in collaboration with The Squared Division. Shot on location at Universal Studios with six custom-designed sets and over two months of post-production, the video is a mythic descent through the Seven Deadly Sins, reimagined as moments of human vulnerability rather than moral failure. The visual narrative, rich with high fashion and surreal symbolism, reflects JOLIN’s commitment to pushing artistic and cultural boundaries.
“Pleasure” is the lead single from her forthcoming album, her first full-length release in six years via WM Taiwan / East West Records on July 4th. Co-written with Ross Golan (Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5) and Richard Craker (JOLIN’s longtime collaborator), “Pleasure” is a genre-bending techno-house anthem that dives headfirst into the duality of desire and shame. The track pulses with a serpentine synth bass and lyrics that challenge repression with a whisper and a roar. From its opening command of “Call me Mommy,” JOLIN transforms into a dominant, maternal guide through a labyrinth of liberation, guilt, and self-discovery.
“Some songs are written. Others demand to be born. ‘Pleasure’ was the latter,” says JOLIN. “I wanted to explore the voice inside me that had been silenced. The woman I am now no longer needs permission to feel joy, power, or hunger. ‘Pleasure’ is about reclaiming that.”
“Pleasure” recorded more than 100,000 digital sales in China in the first 12 hours post-release, and almost half a million global streams on Spotify within 32 hours, the highest debut ever for a Mandarin female artist. The single also secured top chart placements across Asia.
JOLIN’s upcoming album is the culmination of nearly a decade of journaling, reflection, and personal evolution. Building on the inner reckoning of her Ugly Beauty era, the new record channels influences ranging from Dante and medieval poetry to modern psychology, transforming the Seven Deadly Sins into metaphors for emotional need and spiritual longing. “Through that lens,” JOLIN says, “every flaw becomes fertile ground. Pleasure isn’t about indulgence. It’s about truth.”
