Maggie Lindemann has released her debut album SUCKERPUNCH.
Building on the sharp songwriting and singularly honed-in sounds she’d established on her acclaimed 2021 EP PARANOIA, SUCKERPUNCH chronicles a journey of self-discovery and actualization over the course of its 15 tracks.
“It’s an unexpected punch, a blow you didn’t see coming,” Maggie Lindemann explains. “When I was making this, I had those blows in my own life; when I listened to the album back from start to finish, I realized the entire thing was a sucker punch – for myself, for my fans – and I knew it had to be the title.”
On the rebel anthem “cages,” Maggie delivers a sucker punch to haters who mistake her for someone seeking their approval: “Don’t need your take on what I do (woah)/Lions aren’t meant for cages/Let me live my life,” she sings. In the official video, which premiered today, Maggie and her friends gather in an LA parking lot that’s filled with school buses and under the shadow of a towering church. With boards and beer in hand, they head out for a local skate park. Directed by Vixxion and Sam Fine, the kinetic clip mirrors the punk energy of the track, exploding with unpredictable angles and edits.
Kaatii is a 14 year old upcoming singer-songwriter. Today she brings a take on Halloween and paranoia, in paranoid times.
“Afraid of the Dark is all about being unnecessarily paranoid for no real reason. You know, when your mind gets a little bit twisted and a coat looks like a ghost. The song is a fun take on something that is not fun at all,” she explains.
“The inspiration for this song came from one really horrible night of sleep in a remote cabin in Colorado,” Kaatii shares. “I was in Breckinridge for a songwriting retreat and the very first night I ended up having the worst paranoia of my life, going in and out of what felt like sleep paralysis. In the morning, my co-writer, Kara Connolly, and I ended up writing this song after she was too afraid to sleep as well.”
