Today, Australian singer/songwriter Julia Jacklin announces her highly anticipated new album PRE PLEASURE set for release on August 26, 2022 via Polyvinyl Record Co. The album is a masterclass in songwriting and cements Jacklin’s status as one of the most important songwriters of her time.

“Lydia Wears A Cross” is the first single from the new album and Jacklin has today released the new video as well. On the song Julia says “The song is about a lot of things but mainly being a 7yr old Jesus Christ superstar fanatic attending catholic school trying to figure out which way is up. The music video was filmed by my constant collaborator and friend Nick Mckk at Splitpoint lighthouse. I played a show close by recently and asked on stage if anyone could let me film inside. Someone in the crowd knew a guy and that was it. The rest was filmed in the streets of Northcote, Melbourne.”

Austin, TX’s Sun June have shared a video for their new single “Reminded,” from the expanded version of their acclaimed record, Somewhere, out tomorrow via Run For Cover and Keeled Scales.

“‘Reminded’ is about being captivated by someone you have a bad history with and wanting to reconcile with past mistakes, despite it being the most unhealthy decision. It’s about gazing narrowly into an old flame… Basically, it’s the sexiest song we’ve ever written,” says Laura Colwell. “The song leans so far into romance that we thought it would be fun to add some sax. Justin got to arrange it all, and then we had local saxophonist David Alvarez (from Medellin Collection, and Hyah!) lay it down.”

Sun June

Austin, TX’s Sun June have shared a lyric video for their new single “Easy.” The song is one of three new unreleased tracks featured in Somewhere +3, the upcoming expanded version of their critically acclaimed 2021 album Somewhere. Somewhere +3 is out January 14th via Run For Cover.

“‘Easy’ is a romantic struggle song. It’s about love and partnership and longstanding arguments that are hard to get past,” says Laura Colwell. “We started working on it after quarantine was lifted. Everyone had been cloistered alone for months, so frustration was easy to tap into. At the same time, it was joyous and cathartic to play together again, so the song came out upbeat and optimistic too. We loved getting to return to Good Danny’s studio to record—it was easy to find the sounds we wanted and get back into the Somewhere vibe.”

Sun June has also announced headline tours in February and March 2022 with Daphne Tunes and Katy Kirby, as well as a European tour with Ada Lea in January. The band is currently on tour with Shakey Graves.
