Jordy Burns – Walls

Eora/Sydney-based singer/multi-instrumentalist Jordy Burns has revealed her captivating debut single ‘Walls’ – produced by Luke Clark and mixed by Trent Dobson.

‘Walls’ unfolds its poignant narrative, where lingering strings create anticipation, intricately woven with the warm and resonant embrace of a piano. The melody gracefully glides with emotive vocals and rich cello, drawing the song into a realm of profound emotion and introspection.

Jordy Burns talks about the inspiration behind ‘Walls’:

“‘Walls’ is about heartbreak and broken trust. A person I was seeing convinced me that I was safe to open my heart and that they wanted what I wanted. As it turns out, as soon as I let down my guard, they all too quickly realised that they weren’t ready to move on from their last relationship. In saying that, they continued to stay with me and we made a mess of things… it was a rollercoaster, to say the least.”

Accompanying the release is the evocative music video, directed/produced by the artist herself and edited by Jaime Rusiti.

Opening with candid b-roll, the video establishes an emotive atmosphere, effortlessly navigating between behind-the-scenes snippets and compelling performances. As Jordy Burns steps into the spotlight, the visual contrasts and backlight cast enchanting shadows, blending candid authenticity with artistry.

Born in South Africa and raised in Australia, Jordy Burns has crafted music that connects to all parts of her musical upbringing. The artist shares, “I loved playing the cello and ended up on a music scholarship in high school along with the trumpet and singing. Despite studying singing overseas, my cello and trumpet made their way over to the USA. I’ve always wanted to be able to incorporate my cello into the music I write.”
