After releasing a string of praised singles since late 2020, including several that were featured in her father’s (M. Night Shyamalan) Apple TV+ series Servant, R&B songstress Saleka has released her latest single “Seance”. The release is paired with a surreal daydreamy video directed by her sister, Ishana Shyamalan, who also directed videos for other previously released tracks (“Mr.Incredible,” “Grafitti,” and “Clarity”).
“‘Seance’ is a song about feeling disconnected from myself, especially my culture and the things about me that are different, weird and colorful,” Saleka shares. “In it I’m mourning the version of myself I slowly rejected as I grew up and tried to assimilate or be accepted by my peers. The song talks about the loss of that person and trying to get her back.”
“Seance” director, Ishana, added, “One of the great joys of making the ‘Seance’ music video was the playful nature of the song. Though it addresses pretty intense emotions, the song doesn’t take itself too seriously. The whimsical artist, Lexy Ho-Tai, created our monster. As she sewed, the character came to life. It became a distinctive voice in the video – representing both the fear and joy of individuality.
In addition, Saleka will open for Giveon on his Give Or Take Tour 2022

Saleka is haunting for many reasons which is evident in her video “Mr Incredible.” With an evocative and emotional video directed by her sister, Ishana Night Shyamalan, Saleka’s “Mr. Incredible” tells the story of a couple whose love is stifled by their inability to communicate.
The video mixes passionate R & B with a misfit duplicate theme that Jordan Peele would appreciate.
Saleka is 24. Her prior single was “Clarity.” Saleka is M Night Shyamalan’s daughter and hopes to achieve the same heights in music he has in film.
