Seven Blood

Seven Blood is a German-based alternative band. Last November they released their debut self-produced album, Life Is Just A Phase.

Life Is Just A Phase includes the singles “Hourglass”, “Not Your Misery”, “Strangers”, “Cold Eyes”, “No Breakout”, “To The Unknown”, “Monsters”, “As We Bleed”, “House ≠ Home”,and “Killing From The Inside.”
SEVEN BLOOD is more than just a band; it’s a collective born from personal crises, aiming to become a soundtrack for healing for those going through their own traumatic times. The quartet’s deeply personal songs tell the contrasting life stories of its members. There’s guitarist Oli Arnold and drummer Anfy Hartmann, who grew up in the former East German stronghold of Suhl, where their childhood was shaped by the constant decay of their hometown. “Growing up in a ghost town like that played a bigger role than I ever thought,” Oli reflects. Punk, metal, and emo became the soundtrack to their disillusionment, until at 18 they packed their bags and moved to Berlin to dive into a completely new music scene.
There, they met singer Azaria Nasiri, whose youth was also a search for belonging. As the daughter of Moroccan and Iranian parents, she struggled to find her place. “I came from two very different cultural backgrounds and lived in a completely different one, which always made me feel like I was searching for a place where I belonged but never really found it,” Azaria explains.
In spring 2023, Azaria, Oli, and Anfy came together—with bassist Josi Hille joining later—each at a personal and creative crossroads. The band became their outlet to channel pain into music. Their first single, ‘Killing From The Inside’, is the result of this raw honesty, based on Azaria’s experience with sociopathic behaviour and her own self-reflection.
SEVEN BLOOD creates a unique sound that blends heavy, riff-driven elements inspired by Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, and Paramore with more atmospheric sounds in the vein of Fleetwood Mac and Boygenius. For them, it’s not just about how their music sounds, but about the feeling it creates and how it tells their stories. The band’s mission is to build a connection with their fans based on honesty, respect, and a shared understanding of life’s challenges
FEMMUSIC e-mailed with Azaria Nasiri about the new album.
FEMMUSIC: What was the biggest challenge making Life Is Just A Phase?
Azaria: Well, it is our very first record so in the beginning we had to ask ourselves essential questions like: Who are we, What music do we want to make and how do we want to work and write music together. Luckily we were able to sort out these questions pretty fast.
FEMMUSIC: Life Is Just A Phase evolved from a series of EP releases. At what point did you decide that you wanted to make it an album? How did that change how you viewed the songs collectively?
Azaria: It was clear to us that we wanted to make an album right in the beginning. Several releases prior to the album release was just how we wanted to introduce ourselves to the world. Life Is Just a Phase is now a great collection of our first chapter as a band.
FEMMUSIC: Since Life Is Just A Phase evolved from EP’s, how did your production technique change over time?
Azaria: With every song we got braver to experiment with different elements. It was also part of defining our sound but I am looking forward to keep on experimenting through all of our albums and songs!
FEMMUSIC: The album is self produced. If you did work with a producer, whom would you like that to be? Why?
Azaria: Well this is a tough one. To be honest, I think we have a quite a spectrum of genre elements in our music that different producers could highlight individually well. However, I would be more than happy if we kept self producing because this makes it even more ‘our thing’.
FEMMUSIC: Tell me about your songwriting technique. How does a song develop within the band?
Azaria: Most of the times it starts with conversations over a cup of coffee. We talk about what’s been going on lately and which topics have been on our mind lately. Sometimes we also just share ideas for melodies with each other in the beginning and then think about what the melody could be about.
FEMMUSIC: Tell me about “Fall From The Sky.” How did that song develop?
Azaria: with „Fall From The Sky“ the melody was there first. When we wrote it we were like „Oh this would be a sick outro for the album“. We actually wrote the lyrics on the last day of recording and wanted to wrap up the album with this song in the best way possible. That’s why we included all the song titles in the lyrics and told a story that felt like the atmosphere that ‘Life Is Just a Phase’ embodies.
FEMMUSIC: What artist would you most like to collaborate with? Why?
Azaria: Hayley Williams or Courtney Laplante. A girl can dream, right?
FEMMUSIC: What one thing would you like to change about the music industry?
Azaria: Less algorithms and more focus on fair treatment or the actual creative artists.
FEMMUSIC: What has your experience been like as a woman in the music industry?
Azaria: I am very lucky to be in the music industry environment in which I am. The people I work with and spend much time with believe in my abilities and treat me respectfully. Unfortunately I know that this isn’t always the case and we as women often have to work twice as hard just to be taken seriously. However, for what it’s worth, let me tell you this: there are people out there who will believe in you
