Robo – Fever Diva

Robo

Emerging York art-rock band Robo release new single “Fever Diva”, out via 25 Hour Convenience Store.

The theatrical, hook-laden track showcases a band balancing irresistible melodies with restless unpredictability—designed to attract listeners before taking them on an unexpected journey.

Blending influences from Roxy Music, Alvvays, David Bowie, and Bar Italia, Robo craft songs that are playful and theatrical on the surface yet unpredictable underneath. “Fever Diva” exemplifies this approach—a marvellous vignette of contemporary life full of character, twists, and revelations.

The band centres around two singers and songwriters, Francisco Garcia-Luengo (Frank) and Eric Wolf Bell, who have been writing and jamming together since their teenage years. Bassist Holly Brewer brings distinctly melodic riffs oozing personality, alongside beautiful, unique vocals and her own songwriting contributions. Drummer James Paton—an immensely talented player who fills every song with memorable patterns—also records and produces all the band’s demos, arranging strings, pianos, melodicas, or whatever else the song demands.

“I am not sure where we fit in, with which genre,” Frank admits. “We don’t feel particularly comfortable being labelled in any particular genre. If you have a label to describe us, then that is what we are not.”

Eric continues: “We are not introspective or lost but travelling to somewhere, travelling to ourselves, seeing the world around us and getting there song by song.”

In September 2025, Robo signed to independent label 25 Hour Convenience Store, run by Gary Powell—’meister producer’ and drummer of similarly daring indie rock giants The Libertines. Their current batch of singles, including “Fever Diva” and forthcoming track “Bad Boy”, are being recorded by Powell at the infamous Albion Rooms in Margate.

Previously, the band worked with producer Simon Willey, whose credits include Nile Rodgers and Bryan Ferry—a fitting collaborator for an art-rock band working in a genre pioneered by Ferry with Roxy Music.

“Fever Diva” marks the beginning of a busy spring for Robo. Follow-up single “Bad Boy” arrives soon, with more releases scheduled throughout the season. The band will also join the Steam Packet II tour (dates to be announced), bringing their theatrical live show to audiences across the UK.

With new material constantly in motion and a label partnership that champions their boundary-pushing approach, Robo are a band gathering speed—and there’s never been a better time to get on board.
