JULESY – Flip the Bed

Today, Brooklyn-based alt-indie pop artist JULESY releases her debut full-length album, Flip the Bed, out October 17 via Strong Place Music.

A rising voice in New York’s indie scene, JULESY spent the summer building momentum with singles like “Heart On The Line,” “Blue Lie,” and “Never Never,” drawing early comparisons to artists like Soccer Mommy and Snail Mail. Praised for her evocative vocals, intimate lyricism, and bold, experimental instrumentation, JULESY introduces a fully realized artistic vision with Flip the Bed.
Alongside the album, she shares focus track “Water” — a soaring, cinematic piece that feels both coming-of-age and timeless. The track blends thick, psychedelic-tinged guitar riffs with a signature piano melody, delivering an emotional punch grounded in both vulnerability and power.
“This was one of the last songs written for the record. Hejira by Joni Mitchell was a huge inspiration, more notably Jaco on bass. That bass sound is so round and full, but also so fragile because of the imperfectness of a fretless. That’s what I really wanted to nail for this song, a tenderness met with this sort of harsh depth, and Sahil really helped me bring that to life (big props to Julian Briones and Andy Shimm for nailing that vibe).” JULESY shares.
“We played around with so many sounds until we found ones that sounded really perfect for the soul of the song. In the end, the instrumentation became so important to me, I decided to leave the third verse open to showcase that. The lyrics that I did include are about wanting to be enough for someone, and eventually realizing that you never could be. At the end of the day, transforming yourself can seem like the easier option, but it leaves you exhausted and pretty alone.”
Flip The Bed captures the unraveling and aftermath of a six-year relationship with melodic clarity and emotional precision. Written during the final two years of that relationship — and in the uncertain space that followed — the album traces a mid-twenties life in flux, where heartbreak, identity, and creative renewal bleed together.
With Flip the Bed, JULESY delivers a bold, genre-blurring introduction — one that explores emotional spaces many artists leave untouched. The result is a debut that feels fully in-process: messy, magnetic, and deeply human.
