Stacey Ryan – Blessing In Disguise

LA-by-way-of-Montreal singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Stacey Ryan unveils her long-awaited debut album Blessing In Disguise today, accompanied by the release of a tender, homesick music video for “Montréal,” the album’s opening track.
Blessing In Disguise is an 11-song chronicle of heartbreak, growth, and self-discovery. Each track captures a distinct moment of emotional truth, whether it’s the bittersweet push-and-pull of “Bad Omen,” the cutting confrontation of “Nothing Like You,” or the liberated release of “Sweet Talker.” Across the record, Ryan threads her signature jazz-inflected chord changes and warm, agile vocals through pop-soul arrangements that feel at once timeless and fresh.

“I’m so excited and proud to bring you my debut full length album Blessing In Disguise,” Ryan shares. “Every song represents a different lesson learned in life and relationships, and how I grew from each situation. At the time it seemed I would be stuck in those hard places forever, but now looking back I realized I needed to go through all those experiences to be who I am today.”
The record’s focus single, “Montréal,” serves as both a love letter to Ryan’s hometown and an acceptance of the life she’s built in Los Angeles. Over gently swaying percussion and luminous keys, she sings of missing family, braving distance, and finding home in unexpected places. The accompanying video captures this duality, juxtaposing intimate scenes of city life in Montreal with snapshots of her LA life.
The release follows “Bad Omen,” a shimmering soul-pop confessional Ryan described as “the frustration of opening up to someone, only to realize that their true intentions didn’t align with mine.” That single offered a preview of Blessing In Disguise’s balance of vulnerability and vitality; heartbreak you can dance (or cry) to.
Ryan’s trajectory has been anything but ordinary. She first went viral in 2022 with “Don’t Text Me When You’re Drunk” (350M views, 280K pre-saves), before breaking globally with “Fall In Love Alone,” a #1 Billboard hit in Indonesia and Top 5 across Southeast Asia, amassing over half a billion streams. That same year, she was handpicked by Duran Duran to open their BST Hyde Park show in London and performed her breakout single on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
In the years since, Stacey has toured across North America, Europe, and Asia, and graced the stages of Montreal Jazz Festival, Montreux and Jakarta’s Java Soul, and more. She’s now set to embark on her first North American headlining tour in September. A classically trained jazz pianist who also plays guitar, bass, ukulele, and trumpet, she’s built a reputation for weaving complex musicality into irresistibly catchy pop. With Blessing In Disguise, Ryan opens her most revealing chapter yet, solidifying her place as one of the most compelling new voices in modern pop.
