Pacing – Nothing! (I Wanna Do) & Uno! (Boombox Version)

Pacing, the anti-folk songwriting and recording project of Katie McTigue, today releases singles “Nothing(I Wanna Do) and “Uno! (Boombox Version)”.
Both tracks appear on her forthcoming sophomore album PL*NET F*TNESS, out July 25 via Asian Man Records.

“Nothing! (I wanna do)” is a classic upbeat depression banger. “We are all entitled to one per album, and I’m using mine now,” says McTigue. Inspired by the monotony of her daily Highway 85 commute, the song’s unchanging drum loop mirrors the grind of traffic and repetition.
“When we play this song live, we play the tape loop on a boombox to get that lo-fi sound and my drummer comes in and out playing over it,” explains McTigue. “We play ‘Nothing!’ and ‘Uno!’ back to back over the same loop, so I thought it would be fun to release them together.”
The singles are part of Pacing’s sophomore album PL*NET F*TNESS, alongside the eponymous lead single released earlier this year, and nine more tracks written and produced by McTigue. The album was recorded partially at home and partially at District Recording with Ryan Perras, who engineered, mixed, and mastered the record.
PL*NET F*TNESS is Pacing’s attempt at finding meaning in life’s obligations, expounding on love, grief, and the in-between everyday moments. “There’s a lot in life that you don’t get to opt out of,” explains McTigue. “Having a job; driving to it. Playing ‘Uno!’ with your family for quality time while waiting for someone to die. Going to sleep; waking up. Paying your parking ticket. Sometimes this is all fine, and other times the weight of all of this obligation is crushing.”
